Jemma & Kevin’s miraculous Cotswold wedding…in the snow

Ok, this is a very special post to a VERY special couple. I met Jemma and Kevin for the first time back in July 2010 when I did their engagement shoot (which you can see here) along the River Wey, in Guildford. I remember discussing their wedding and the hope of  ‘a bit of snow’ to make it a true winter wedding…well snow they would have…and lots of it! Arriving at the church the day before the wedding to meet with the happy couple for the wedding rehearsal, I knew it was going to be a very special wedding. All Saints Church is gorgeous, located in a little town called Bisley, near Stroud (Gloucestershire). What made it even more special, was the fact that Jemma’s father is the vicar at All Saints and would be leading the wedding ceremony!

On the morning of the wedding, we awoke to discover it had snowed overnight…a lot. We made our way to the church earlier than planned and got there just before it started snowing again (phew!!) Unfortunately some of the wedding guests were not able to physically get to the church before the weather turned worse. Thankfully the bride & groom and the best man (with the rings), and some of Jemma & Kevin’s close family & friends had managed to get there. A beautiful wedding unfolded in front of us in the snow with a beautiful bride and handsome groom promising to love each other through thick and thin (and adverse weather ;-). Afterwards guests enjoyed mince pies & mulled wine in the church and the decision had to be made to cancel the reception at the venue  in Tetbury as no one would be able to get there. A lovely little countryside pub called The Bear Inn a short walk in the snow from the church came to the rescue and it was an evening filled with love, laughter, a few tears and many heartfelt speeches – especially the best man’s speech (I’ll admit I welled up too!)

Mr & Mrs Donnelly were absolute troopers from start to finish. Jemma & Kevin, congratulations on your marriage and being absolute legends! Here are a just a few of my favourite shots from this very special day!

Jemma’s dress was by Jean Fox with additional lace detailing by Amanda of The Sewing Room. Jemma and her sister’s Ruth wore beautiful headpieces handmade by Jessie Clifford from www.jessiecliffordhats.com
