A vintage inspired barn wedding at Blake Hall, Ongar {Holly & Gareth}

When I met Holly & Gareth for the first time in Brighton for their Engagement Shoot, I fell in love with them….ok, ok that sounds a bit weird, but I just loved what these two were all about! To give you some insight into Holly & Gareth, in Holly’s own words which she wrote when their Engagement Shoot was featured on gorgeous South African wedding blog, The Pretty Blog earlier this month:

“Gareth and I met at Art School in Norwich where we both completed a BA HONS, Gareth’s in Graphic Design, mine in Fine Art. I was 19 and he was 21. We became good friends, and eventually Gareth took the plunge and asked me out.. we have been together ever since, 9 and a half years later! We got engaged last February on a trip Gareth booked for my birthday to Dublin. He proposed in an art gallery and we have been looking forward to our big day ever since! We are over the moon to be getting married and hopefully have a wedding which shows off our different sides. The wedding is set in the countryside, a little church and a 16th century barn down the lane. We will decorate with bunting, country flowers in old bottles, candleabras and a collection of vintage cups and saucers for every guest to have with a selection of home made cakes! The day is very special for us to be able to get our loved ones from across the world together to share the moment we become husband and wife, and we cannot wait!”

Well….what can I say, their wedding at Blake Hall  in Ongar, Essex, was as gorgeous as they planned for it to be…and then some!! Gareth made an uber cool groom in his blue suit & black sunnies and Holly literally took my breath away when she arrived at the church. I adored all the little vintage touches – from the swept frame with the table placement cards, to the big jam jars with hardboiled sweets on the tables for their guests to enjoy, to the beautiful vintage tea cups and the scrumptious cake table, where they had not one, but 5+ home made cakes! Holly & Gareth hand collected all vintage china & candelabras, glass bottles, bunting and horse shoes and they are actually hiring out these wonderful vintage pieces, so get in touch with me / Holly (hollyberry64@yahoo.co.uk) if you’re a bride looking to add that vintage touch to your day!

Highlights from the day for me: watching the very beautiful Holly transform into an even more beautiful bride, the short drive in the wedding car – a 1964 Ford Deluxe Hot Rod Folley and watching the music video which Gareth and his mates made while on his stag-do in Brighton…hilarious and VERY good!! Overall it was such a lovely wedding and so much fun to shoot. A big shout-out to Yolande who second shot the wedding with me and a big thank you to Holly, Gareth and their families for making us feel at home. It was an honour to share the day with you and I wish you oodles of love, happiness & adventure for your journey together Mr & Mrs Roberts!

Stunning Shots !!

I also like the old fashioned sweets in the jars on the tables, that reminds me of my granny’s kitchen where she kept them where we children couldn’t reach….
