Martmarie & Chris’ rustic farm wedding at The Oaks Estate in Greyton, South Africa {Part 1}

In March this year I had the pleasure of  spending some time in South Africa (my home country), shooting a couple of weddings under the African sun! Being a full time wedding photographer is such an honour and sharing in wonderful wedding days like Martmarie & Chris’ in Greyton (2 hours from Cape Town), made me realise how incredibly blessed I am to do what I love, all over the world. I met Martmarie & Chris for the first time at her parent’s beautiful house in Hermanus, a few days before the wedding. As soon as we started chatting I felt like I had known them for years. We drove down to the beach in Hermanus for their Engagement Shoot (take a look at the photos here) and I discovered just how much these two warm and wonderful souls love each other and how excited they were about getting married! A few days later I drove to Greyton for their farm wedding at The Oaks Estate – a gorgeous Cape Dutch Style Farmyard in the Western Cape, owned and managed by the Ehlers family. We had perfect weather on the day, in fact it was around 33 degrees at some point! With the Zonderend Mountains in the background, The Oaks is the perfect location for a relaxed farm wedding, which is exactly what Martmarie & Chris had planned.

I’d like to thank everyone at The Oaks - Marianne Ehlers, her family and Lee-Anne Farrell, for looking after us and welcoming us with such warmth. It’s no wonder that The Oaks Estate has become such a popular Western Cape wedding venue in such a short time - with such friendly owners and top class wedding coordination. Thank you also to Lara, for shooting the groom prep and candids for me on the day.

I’ve decided to share this wonderful wedding in two parts, so make sure you check back for Part 2 in the next few days to see the wonderful couple photos and some really incredible dance moves. Martmarie & Chris, thank you for sharing your incredible wedding day with me and for making us feel so very welcome. It was an absolute pleasure meeting you both and I wish you all the happiness, adventure and love in the world. Congratulations again Mr & Mrs Lochner!

**I wrote a little review of The Oaks Estate for The South African Newspaper in London, as well as some tips on what to think about when looking for your wedding photographer:**

I’ve never seen such a joyful collection of wedding photos – from the beginning, the smiles and genuine laughter don’t stop. This is uplifting, and beautiful. Thank you for sharing, Anneli, and congratulations to Martmarie and Chris.
I have a question: where on earth do you go on honeymoon if you already live somewhere as beautiful as South Africa?

Hey Mrs. M.

Another wonderful destination wedding captured. The colours of the african sky and processing of the B&W photos make this a complete shoot. Well done. You just keep turning out great wedding shoots.
