What can I say about Marcus & Jess’ wedding….WOW. I honestly had the time of my life photographing their special day and I felt like a part of the family from the moment I arrived at Jess’ mum’s house where they were getting ready. This was my first wedding in Devon and I definitely hope this will be the first of many – what a beautiful setting! Not only did we have the beautiful beach in Sidmouth, but we also had a forest enroute to The Great Barn Devon where their evening reception was held, as well as an amazing hill & pear tree combo at the barn! Marcus & Jess are so head over heels in love and I think it shows in every single photo. They made my job super easy, so much so that I forgot I was working on the day! After their lovely ceremony at their local church in Sidmouth, they hosted a cream tea afternoon reception for their guests at Kennaway House, and this was followed by the evening reception at The Great Barn Devon – the most well-lit barn I have ever shot in! I loved all the DIY, homemade and vintage touches to Marcus & Jess’ day – from their outfits (loved Marcus’ bow-tie and Jess’ gorgeous Phase Eight wedding dress) to the hand-stitched table names (based on a moustache theme – very apt for Movember and inspired by Marcus’ dad Roger’s amazing tach!), to the handmade origami birds everywhere, home-made pink lemonade (super yummy), bunting, candy bar and the canapes, lovingly prepared by Jess’ nan!
The Great Barn in Devon was the perfect location for their evening wedding reception and Dartmoor Kitchen’s “wedding feast” was exquisite. Marcus & Jess ended off the evening (after the hilarious speeches which involved fake moustaches) with their first dance to the jazzy tunes of the incredible Maggie Reeday Band and I literally had to tear myself away to drive back to my hotel in Sidmouth.
Marcus & Jess, I can’t thank you enough for choosing me to photograph your day and I’m so happy to hear that you love your photos. Your tweets after looking through your photos, made my week “Spent one of the best hours of my life looking through @AnneliMPhoto’s photos of my wedding. Only bettered by the day itself #trulyamazing” (Marcus) and “We cannot thank you enough, incredible talent, we LOVE them” (Jess).
Now, if you’re reading this post, grab a cuppa, because I honestly couldn’t narrow down the photos of this amazing wedding any more! Enjoy & let me know what you think! x
*Sigh* aren’t these two lovebirds just perfect together?
How amazing is this pear tree with the barn in the background?
I loved the hand-stitched table plan & table names (Jess’ handiwork) – all names after famous moustaches, inspired by Marcus’ dad Roger’s impressive tash!
Marcus is an origami guru – he made all the beautiful birds!
The beautiful cake made by Jess’ mum – I LOVE cake bunting, too cute!
How awesome are Marcus’ wooden cuff-links – a wedding present from Jess.
