Anna emailed me after finding me on SouthBound Bride just a few days after Piet asked her to be his wife. We ‘met’ over Skype and as soon as the video feed started I knew we’d get on famously. With our blonde fringes, we could have been sisters! We chatted about all the wonderful ideas they had for their ‘farm chic’ wedding and before I knew it, the 15th of December was here and Wayne and I road-tripped from Durban to The Nutcracker Country Retreat, just outside Parys in the Free State. What a gorgeous wedding venue – rustic & very country chic plus the owners were amazing, keeping Wayne watered & fed while I shot Piet & Anna’s wedding.
There were so many highlights shooting this wedding – from having breakfast with Anna & her family in the morning, to the beautiful service where Anna’s father prayed over her and Piet, to the super fun couple portraits and the EPIC dance moves to Gangnam Style later in the evening. When I returned to our room at the end of the night, my heart was filled to the brim with so much love for this Anna, Piet and their very welcoming friends & family. A special thank you to Anna’s mum Ananda for being so welcoming & making sure I was watered and fed. Anna & Piet I can’t thank you enough for trusting me to capture the day for you, I enjoyed every moment and I love that you love your photos:
“Wow, we don’t have words, the photos came out so beautifully, you captured everything so perfectly – from the most beautiful moments to the smallest details. We could never have dreamt to have such beautiful photos. We can’t thank you enough, you really did make the day so much more enjoyable. Thank you for all your effort & for spoiling us. We feel like rock stars!” Anna & Piet (translated from Afrikaans)
Grab a cup of coffee & enjoy the photos (and the little slideshow if you’d like to) – so many pretty details & awesome couple portraits. And if you do read the post, please leave some love for this wonderful South African couple!
Hoe gorgeous did Anna & her bridesmaids look?!
Loved the beautiful home-made cheese-stack wedding cake!
Yum…biltong should be served at every farm wedding! :-)
Such a cool idea – a DIY photobooth in the corner with disposable cameras for the guests to enjoy.
These shots are so cute – Anna & Piet sipping on some of Ouma (Granny) Anna’s home-made Ginger-beer.
Let the silliness commence!
Love this photo! L.O.L
I’ve never had a bride & groom doing a little dance at the main table before sitting down – I loved it!
And of course when Gangnam Style started playing the dance floor erupted and I was seriously impressed with the moves!!
**I will be in South Africa again during 2013, so if you’re getting married, please get in touch to check my availability!**
