Chrissy & Simon’s relaxed garden party wedding took place in Vendee, Western France at the end of July. Having lived in France for the past 5 years, they decided to tie the knot in their local church and then celebrate with their family & closest friends, at Chrissy’s parent’s house in St Hilaire. When I arrived at Chrissy & Si’s Maison de Maitre on the morning of the wedding, I instantly fell in love with their beautiful home. It’s taken them a few years to create their ideal French living space and it’s absolutely stunning. Chatting with Chrissy while she had her hair & make up done, she told me all about their labour love and that tying the knot in their home town in France, was the cherry on the cake for them. Inspired by vintage styling, they decided to add vintage elements to their special day – down to their wedding outfits. What I loved most about the day, was the fact that it was very low key and relaxed. With only 35 guests, Chrissy & Si could spend quality time with each of their guests – especially those who had flown over from the UK for their wedding celebrations.
Just before sunset they had a balloon release, which I thought was a lovely alternative to chinese lanterns. With delicious macarons from L’Atelier du Caramel instead of a wedding cake and afternoon tea, followed by their first dance under the stars and an evening barbecue, the day was a fusion of French & English and I had a lovely time with the happy couple and their guests. A big thank you to Julie & Rick at La Frelonniere for letting us use their garden for some of the couple portraits (separate blog post on my stay at La Frelonniere to follow very soon!)
