When I met Natalie & Clint for the first time, we got on like a house on fire. As fellow South Africans we had a lot to chat about and when they told me about the informal elopement they were planning, I honestly couldn’t wait to photograph it. An elopement couldn’t be any more different to the full day weddings I usually photograph, so I was very excited to capture the intimate ceremony for them, followed by a few couple portraits around Islington. The day arrived and it just happened to be one of the most beautiful, hot days during Summer. The venue for their very informal elopement was the Mayor’s Parlour at Islington Town Hall and I had a wonderful time capturing their very special morning, before they jetted off to their mini-moon in Bari, Italy.
I often tell my couples to remember that the most important thing about the wedding day, is not the venue, the cake, the music or even your first dance moves…it’s the fact that you are marrying the love of your life. This was my first elopement and I loved it. With the various wedding day elements stripped away, the focus was on Nat & Clint and the promise they made to each other in a very intimate, no frills, “I love you just the way you are” way…Nat asked me to be a witness and I felt truly honored to play such a special part in their day.
I will never, ever forget this wonderful elopement. It reminded me that love is simple and that getting married is really only about the two of you. Nat & Clint will be moving back to South Africa in December and this was such a wonderful way to end off their season in London together.
Mr & Mrs Visser, thank you once again for inviting me to be a part of your day. It really did feel like I was photographing two of my oldest friends tying the knot! See you in December for a few sun downers in Durban.
Love these two shots of Nat with her friend Camilla or “Bird” as Nat calls her, before the ceremony. Can you say excited? :-)
Coolest couple ever – beach ready and they just tied the knot! Bring on Bari! :-)
Seriously – how cute are these two??
Gorgeous, glowing bride!
