This year has been amazing in terms of travel. In April I hopped over to Italy (read about that here, here and here), in May I joined my wonderful mum in Amsterdam (the reason for this post) and I literally just yesterday, arrived back from Provence, where I shot a gorgeous wedding at Chateau Les Crostes, this past weekend…pretty amazing. #luckyphotographer
So, today I thought I’d share some of my Amsterdam travel photography. I’ve been very fortunate to rendezvous with my mum (who lives in Johannesburg, but travels for work) in two European cities now (read all about our Milan & Lake Como trip here), and we always have a wonderful time together, exploring, cafe hopping and catching up on life! Amsterdam was no exception and even though we only had two days together, we still made the most of it, soaking up the Dutch atmosphere and having fun speaking Afrikaans with the locals. Around the corner from our homely little hotel Amsterdam House Hotel Eureka, we discovered a deli where we sampled some local cheese, olives, bread & red wine in our room overlooking the canal. Dutch perfection!
I have been to Amsterdam before, but I’m pretty sure it’s gotten even cooler than when I last visited. The “Negen Straatjes” (The 9 streets), in the heart of the Canal district has to be my favourite part of the city – filled to the brim with trendy cafes, cute little stores and interesting locals. We spent quite a bit of time exploring these little streets, soaking up trendy Amsterdam culture (and also getting away from the more touristy parts).
Here are a few of my favourite images and some of my gorgeous mum too! :-)
And this is my fabulous mamma!
Love it Anneli! Felt like I was on those little canals with you! Gorgeous work as always! xxx
