Dom & Phil decided to have a ‘first look’ at their destination wedding at Quinta de Sant’Ana in May. The idea of a first look has really grown in popularity. Many wedding couples now opt to have a moment, set up by their wedding photographer, where they see each other for the first time, before the actual ceremony, in a private location away from their guests.
This makes that special moment, when you first lay eyes on each other so much more intimate and romantic. Having a first look also gives you the opportunity to have some alone time before the rest of the wedding day gets going. Some couples opt to have couple portraits taken after the first look and even some of the family photos, which frees up time later in the day.
I chose a quiet spot behind the wine cellar where Dom & Phil would say their vows later that afternoon. I asked Phil to wait for his bride at the bottom of the steps, with his back turned. Dom walked up to Phil and covered his eyes. The moment when he turned and saw his gorgeous bride for the first time on their wedding day, is one that I will never forget. Just beautiful.
Dom gave Phil a very special present and I took a few portraits of them, before their guests started arriving for the ceremony.
I feel really blessed to have been able to capture these moments and the rest of the day for them. The full wedding will be on the blog very soon, but click here to see a little preview of their gorgeous wedding.
