I have so many lovely weddings to share on the blog over the next few months. 2015 has been a wonderful year and I feel really blessed to have photographed so many special days for couples who will always have a very special place in my heart.
Alice & Rui chose to have a church wedding followed by a gorgeous wedding reception at Millbridge Court in Surrey. Millbridge Court is a fairly new venue and after only a year it has already become one of the most sought after boutique wedding venues in Surrey. I covered the launch event last year and instantly fell in love wit this contemporary wedding venue. As a fairly ‘blank canvas’ space, Alice & Rui was able to make it their own. The wedding theme was English Country Garden with a Portuguese twist, celebrating Alice’s English heritage and Rui’s Portuguese roots.
I loved all the Portuguese influences throughout the day – from the blue & white Portuguese tile pattern throughout the wedding stationery, to the Portuguese wine, specifically imported from Portugal for the occasion. Rui’s mum had made the gorgeous blue & white table runners for each of the tables and in keeping with Portuguese tradition, guests were treated to traditional Pasteis de nata (Portuguese custard tart) later in the evening. The truly magnificent naked wedding cake – adorned with thousands of fresh summer berries and lashings of icing sugar – was sat atop a rectangular table covered with Portuguese blue and white tiles at the base and a beautiful carpet moss runner for the country feel.
Alice & Rui wanted a relaxed, country feel with an emphasis on fun for their guests and they definitely succeeded! Mr & Mrs Vieira opened the dancefloor with their impressive first dance as husband and wife and after that the dancefloor remained packed thanks to DJ Matt Maurice on the decks.
I’m looking forward to shooting at Millbridge Court again next July, when Roxanne & Efe will be tying the knot in style!
Here are a few of my favourites from the day. Full list of suppliers at the end of the post.
