Natalie & Chris chose Lake Como, Italy for their destination wedding. Why you ask? Well…why not! If you’ve ever been to Lenno in the province of Como you’ll understand why they fell head over heels in love with the setting, the welcoming local people, incredible wine and mouth-watering Italian Gelato. When it came to choosing a location for their wedding, they decided to share their love of all things Italian with their wedding guests, by having a destination wedding. They booked me to be their Lake Como Wedding Photographer and I said yes of course.
Lake Como Wedding Photographer:
Living in London and planning a wedding abroad, can be quite tough (I did the same myself), so Natalie & Chris chose Rachel and her lovely team from The Lake Como Wedding Planner to help make their dream of having an Italian wedding, come true. They couldn’t have chosen better. Every detail was planned to perfection. On the morning of the wedding, bridal preparations took place overlooking Lake Como. The atmosphere was relaxed but with a definite undercurrent of excited nerves. I made a point of taking Natalie and her girls out onto the balcony so they could have a moment to themselves, to enjoy the view and the sunshine, before carrying on with hair & make up.
Luxury Wedding at Villa Balbianello:
Boats transported guests from the hotel, across the lake to the breath-taking Villa Balbianello, where the ceremony took place. Villa Balbianello is a world famous venue, where scenes from James Bond & Star Wars have been filmed and it really does take your breath away as you arrive by boat. Due to unsettled weather, the ceremony had to take place indoors, but the view as we approached was still incredible and I heard many an “ooh” and “aah” as guests made their way up the path to the ceremony location. Natalie & her girls arrived in their own private boat and I loved capturing the last few moments of their journey, as they made their way up the steep path to the ceremony room.
Get married at Villa Balbianello on Lake Como:
As their beautiful ceremony ended and Chris kissed his bride, I realised yet again how lucky I am to do what I love in amazing locations like these. The skies cleared for the rest of the afternoon and we made the most of the world famous villa for their couple portraits, before we jumped in a boat to make our way across the lake to Sala Comacina, for the wedding reception. Taking portraits of Natalie & Chris in a boat on Lake Como was definitely on my wedding photography bucket list and it was lovely to spend some time with them alone, before they were welcomed by their guests at the restaurant.
A relaxed wedding reception on Lake Como:
Locanda La Tirlindana in Sala Comacina is a quaint Italian restaurant where you can enjoy your meal al fresco, while watching the sun set over Lake Como. It was exactly what Natalie & Chris had in mind for their relaxed wedding reception and the perfect spot to party the night away with the locals. Natalie & Chris, I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again: THANK YOU for inviting me to capture your Italian wedding adventure. Your trust in me and the way you welcomed Wayne and I into your wedding weekend was wonderful and we will never forget it.
Rachel & Giulia, thank you for looking after me and keeping me watered and fed! It was lovely working with you.
This is just a very small selection of my favourites from the day.
