A little bit about me…

My name is Anneli I am a professional UK & Destination wedding photographer.

I have always had a passion for beautiful photography, but it was only after marrying my best friend & soul mate in Cape Town back in 2009, that I realised I wanted to become a full time wedding photographer. Having left the sunny shores of South Africa 7 years ago to travel and work in Europe, I never thought the UK would become home, but it has nestled itself deep into my heart and I now live in the countryside, in Surrey, with my wonderful husband & talented wildlife photographer, Wayne.

Over the last 2 years I have realised more and more how much I love a good wedding. There are so many emotions & exciting moments to capture. Being able to share in the start of a newlywed couple’s journey is also a huge honour. Every time I edit a wedding and I look through the photos from the day, I realise how different every couple is and how unique their love stories are.

So…why do I love being a wedding photographer?

- I get to meet new couples for coffee all the time – each with their own exciting engagement story (I’m a sucker for a cheesy proposal story!)
- Engagement Shoots: whether it’s a picnic in the park, a stroll around London or relaxing in sun loungers on the beach – the combination of different locations, discovering what makes a couple tick & my camera = fun
- Thank you cards in the post – I remember getting my first ever thank you note in the post…wow. Nothing beats hearing how happy my clients are with their photos & their memories of their beautiful day. That is after all what it’s all about!
- No two weddings are the same! Variety is the spice of life (corny but true) and even when I shoot at the same venue more than once, each wedding is still different
- Hilarious wedding speeches – absolutely priceless
- Lastly, I love being a wedding photographer because I can throw myself into my job 150%! I get emotional while photographing the ceremony, I laugh during the speeches and I tap my toe (I can’t help it) while photographing dance moves late in the evening, because I love my job.

A springtime Engagement Shoot in The City of Light – Kate & Andy in Paris. {Sneak Peek}

I seriously can’t wait to blog this awesome couple’s photos from their Engagement Shoot in Paris next week. Paris is definitely one of the most romantic cities in the world and one of my favourites, so earlier this year I decided to run a competition with awesome wedding blogger Louise from b.loved weddings, for one lucky couple to win their Engagement Shoot in Paris! Kate & Andy stole my heart the minute I read Kate’s entry and before I knew it, it was the end of April and we were all sitting on the Eurostar on our way to make Kate & Andy’s “Engagement Shoot in Paris dream”, come true! Read more about Kate & Andy’s journey to the big day here.

Here’s a teeny tiny sneak peek – the full blog posts (yes there will be more than one) will be gracing your screens next week and will also be featured over on b.loved. Kate & Andy tied the knot this past Friday and from what I saw on Facebook & Instagram they both looked smashing. Congratulations Mr & Mrs Barker!

Rendesvouz in London – Monica and Kevin’s international love story. {London Couple Shoot}

This Engagement Shoot is very near to my heart as I’ve known gorgeous Monica (a fellow South African who I met in London) for around 6 years. When she messaged me to let me know that she had met the man of her dreams and that they were tying the knot in August in South Africa this year, I was over the moon happy for her! Currently, Kevin (originally from Texas) lives in China and Mon lives in Kiev so they decided to fly to London to spend some time together and to have a very special Engagement Shoot in the heart of London.

I absolutely loved doing this Engagement Shoot – capturing how happy and in love they are and how excited they are about their wedding day was amazing. They both looked fabulous – Kevin’s hat was super cool and Mon’s skinny jeans & heels ensemble with her gorgeous engagement ring, to die for! Nothing beats seeing a friend meet ‘the one’ and watching how her face lights up everytime he smiles at her or takes her hand…it’s so special. Mon & Kevin, thank you so much for sharing your love story with me. I wish you nothing but butterflies for your wedding in South Africa later this year.

Here are a few of my favourites from our afternoon together in London – we started in St. James Park, strolled past Big Ben and then jumped into a cab to finish off our shoot on the Tattershell on Embankment, with the London Eye in the background. Perfection!

Little Mia’s first photoshoot in sunny South Africa {Newborn Baby Shoot}

I had the pleasure of meeting baby Mia for her first baby shoot when I was back in South Africa in March this year. When we did the shoot we was just over one month old with the most amazing blue eyes and I loved the fact that I could capture little bits of her character in the photos, seeing that she was wide awake throughout the shoot. Mum & dad (Christelle & Willie) invited me to spend some time with the three of them and it was really special to capture their love for each other and for little Mia.

Marcel & Sam’s South African themed wedding at Knowlton Court, Kent.

Just a little preview of Marcel & Sam’s wedding this past Saturday in Canterbury, Kent. Knowlton Court is a gorgeous wedding venue and it was the perfect setting for Marcel & Sam’s wedding celebration with a South African theme. I had so much fun shooting their wedding and they both looked gorgeous – thanks again for having me guys!
